The two suppliers

  • Guy: priced from the Beast list in USD, with a 14% markup applied to the list price (list x 1.14).
  • CK / Tier One: priced from CK’s catalogue in USD. Transport is added in CAD per case.
  • We sell to MVW (and other sub-sellers) at each product’s sale price in CAD.

Cost, landed cost, sale price, margin

  1. Vendor cost - what the supplier charges, per the product’s cost unit (carton, box, case…), in USD.
  2. Landed cost - vendor cost converted to CAD at the live exchange rate, plus the transport share. It is always shown per selling unit.
  3. Sale price - what the store pays, in CAD, per selling unit.
  4. Margin = sale price - landed cost. A negative margin means the product sells at a loss; Analytics lists them.
The USD to CAD rate is the app’s live rate (Settings shows it as the “live market rate”). A purchase order or invoice can carry its own agreed rate, which re-prices its lines.

Units

Each product can have up to three units (for example pack, carton, case) with conversions between them (packs per carton, cartons per case). The selling unit is the one the store orders in. Cost, landed cost and sale price are converted between units automatically.

What changes a price

  • Importing or editing a product in the catalogue.
  • Approving an invoice: it creates price approvals (see guide 3). Nothing about cost changes until a person approves it.
  • Bulk pricing from the catalogue. Every change is recorded in the product’s price history with its source (import, script, invoice, manual).
