# Suppliers and the ledger

> Who owes whom, and how to record payments and credits.

**Suppliers** lists each supplier with two balances, **CAD** and **USD**. Open one for its ledger.

## Reading balances

Each ledger row has a signed amount. **Positive means we owe the supplier**; negative means a payment or credit reduced what we owe. A balance is the sum of the rows, per currency. USD and CAD are not added together on the ledger (there is no netted total yet - see *Not built yet*).

## Recording things

| Action | Use it for |
| - | - |
| Payment | Money we paid (wire, card, cheque). Reduces the balance. |
| Credit | Short shipment, return, discount. Reduces the balance. |
| Manual charge | A cost not on an invoice. Increases the balance. |
| Transport fee | Freight billed to us. |
| Set balance | Correct a balance to an agreed figure. |
| Pass-through | A charge passed through Vendi that is also deducted from another supplier's balance. |

Rows are not edited; correct a mistake by deleting the row (admin) or adding an offsetting row.

## Supplier products

On a supplier page you can add products, click a price to edit it, or remove a product from the supplier. A product needs a supplier price to be orderable from that supplier.

## Dashboard

Shows supplier balances, recent activity and WHM stock levels. **Order flow** draws who owes whom and how documents (orders, invoices, POs, receipts) connect.
